We began filming in 2019 with an initial trip back to the source: San Francisco. While in SF, our team filmed key interviews with Vegas in Space Director PHILLIP R FORD, and other critical voices including JOSHUA GRANNELL aka PEACHES CHRIST, TIMMY SPENCE and J RAOUL. Another foundational trip in the making of DEAR DORIS was to Arizona for three days with Doris’s friend, creative collaborator, co-writer, and one of the stars of Vegas in Space, MISS X. Production continued through 2024 — taking us to Sydney, Australia for Mardi Gras and World Pride events honoring the legacy of Doris Fish and to NYC, Virginia, and Pittsburgh.
